Gulfstream Park – Race 3.  Post time: 1:54 ET
4 – Alecka Star (4-1)

Has win-early breeding (Majesticperfection) and a short but noteworthy work tab leading up to her debut in this maiden-special-weight sprint for older fillies and mares.  There is nothing among the known element with better than par speed figures for this level and the M. Yates-trained sophomore shows a pair of bullet workouts (among only three that are listed), including a recent five furlong breezing gate drill (1:00 flat) 12 days ago that was the fastest of 36 for the distance over the Gulfstream Park main track.  The barn has strong stats with first-time starters and the stable’s “go-to” rider M. Vasquez takes the call, so at 4-1 on the morning line this Florida-bred filly appears to offer excellent wagering value.

Gulfstream Park – Race 5.  Post time: 2:56 ET
4 – Wandering (7/2)

Juvenile fillies sprint six furlongs in an open fray that brings out this well-regarded daughter of Malibu Moon from the hot T. Proctor stable.  The first foal from a stakes-placed half-sister to the top class (and current Breeders’ Cup Distaff favorite) Latruska, she has done some excellent work in the a.m. including bullet workouts in two of her most recent three morning trials.  This trainer/jockey combo has been red hot of late, so let’s go with this debuting high-potential type in the win pool and in rolling exotic play and hope to get close to her morning line of 7/2.
