With Races 4-12 on the Breeders' Cup side and covered in the 1/ST Breeders' Cup Wager Guide, I'll focus on the 3 preliminary races on the Del Mar card. Early first post of 1:05 pm ET / 10:05 am PT, so get ready!
Del Mar - Race #1
#6 Kansas Cat: He has been knocking on the door all year and will eventually get over the top in a spot like this, and he might offer another decent price to find out if today is the day.
#5 Monterey Bay: He has been an honest enough finisher and has taken his track with him through some good tries on a couple of different surfaces. Feel like he's most likely to end up underneath, but he looks like one of the ones.
#12 Twirling Point: Dropper has been in a lot of tougher spots, and he probably has a mild excuse for the two-back run when racing off the bench in a pretty deep allowance spot.
Race Summary: Lots of good opinions and thoughts out there on the BC races elsewhere, so I'll focus my plays in this space on the early races on the card to try to find a bankroll builder or two. Most interesting play on the BC portion of the card will be White Abarrio in the Dirt Mile. Kansas Cat has some appeal at what figures to be another midrange price, and he should get a great spying trip from up close. Tough to trust, but something like the 6/1 ML would make the risk worth it for me.
Del Mar - Race #2
#5 Sir Rocket: Really like a lot of his recent form, and he looked pretty good winning on the main track here earlier this year. Think he's in the mix at an OK number.
#1 Ghost of Midnight: Reliable late runner only has losses on his page to some pretty nice ones, and his better stuff would probably make him a handful. No arguments from me.
#12 Red Flag: He has faced a lot of tougher groups than this along the way, and he at least showed a little bit of life in that deep allowance try here in August. Could land it.
Race Summary: Sir Rocket has been riding some good form and showed up with an OK effort in stakes company last time out. He fits well here and could get the right kind of midpack finishing run. No clue what to do with #14 Bostontonian here, but he's perfect from four starts and has attacking pace from the outside.
Del Mar - Race #3
#5 Medoro: Honest runner is always right there, and she should find a perfect spying spot with this crew. Price should be more interesting this time around in a fun spot.
#2 Deep Satin: She hasn't missed by much while searching for her first graded stakes score, and I liked her last try in Grade I company. Better stuff would do.
#3 Special Wan: She's another with some class and fairly honest form, but I feel like she's going to get overbet just a bit in here.
Race Summary: Medoro has reliable form and seems about as likely as any of these to land it, and I think a couple of the other logical players will help keep the price fair.
