September kicks off with a bang later this afternoon as 1/ST BET and Xpressbet are set to launch a brand-new promotion for the month. “Fall Into Fortune” kicks off later today giving customers a chance on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s all through September of earning a $10 bonus if they wager $100 on select tracks. The marketing team has selected a different track for each Tuesday and Thursday starting with Horseshoe Indianapolis. So, just register on the promotional landing page, bet at least $100 on today’s Horseshoe card, and receive $10 in addition to any money you win at the windows. Here are a few horses I like most on the day.
Race 3:
On paper the pace looks honest in this state-bred first-level allowance at two-turns over the main track, but I am still willing to give a big chance to 10-1-ML shot #4 Infinite Speed. The 3YO gelding had a tiny bit of success sprinting through eight starts, but trainer Antonio Duran dropped him in class and stretched him to a route for the first time in late June. This resulted in an easy gate-to-wire score. Less than two weeks later, Duran opted to wheel Infinite Speed back in a turf route against allowance foes. This did not go as well with him battling early along the inside and tiring badly in the end. He has been given almost two months since then and heads back to the main track for a barn that has been rolling over the last 30 days evidenced by their 3-12-record with a $2.43 ROI. At the price, I will gamble he can avoid another early battle with veteran jockey Santo Sanjur back in the saddle.
Play: #4 Infinite Speed (10-1 ML)
Picks: 4-8-3
Race 5:
My next play comes in this $15k optional claimer at one-mile over the grass where I landed on #3 Jailhouse Justice. The son of Harry’s Holiday comes in off his second consecutive runner-up finish over this course and distance on August 5. I would normally be concerned with two straight neck defeats, but there is little doubt Jailhouse Justice ran better than winner #7 Go Bali Go last time out. Jailhouse Justice shifted outside midway through and made a premature move, while Go Bail Go was able to save ground throughout under a heady ride by jockey Mitchell Murill. With the move to an inside draw and the unlikelihood that Murrill, as well as 5-2-favorite #6 Accredit are able to work out better trips, I think the value is fair on this Anthony Granitz trainee. Hopefully, jockey Alex Achard can time his move a bit better later this afternoon.
Play: #3 Jailhouse Justice (9-2 ML)
Picks: 3-6-2
Race 8:
My final spot play for today’s start of our “Fall into Fortune” promotion comes in this MSW for fillies and mares at 1 1/16-miles over the grass where I landed on second-time starter #2 Cinquante Cinq. The daughter of Kingman debuted over this turf course on July 15 and ran a solid third to 6-5-favorite Miss Complicated despite swinging extremely wide into the lane when attempting to make her move towards the leader. Eventually, she leveled off nicely to finish in the Show spot beaten less than five lengths. With the start under her belt and the move to an inside draw, it is likely we see a significant move forward at around 5:47 PM eastern time. The improvement I expect should be good enough to get her to the wire first for trainer Riley Mott.
Play: #2 Cinquante Cinq (9-2 ML)
Picks: 2-4-11
