Ron Nicoletti: $17K Carryover / Mandatory Payout Rainbow 6 Gulfstream Analysis

With a mandatory payout at the end of the fiscal year in Florida, Gulfstream Park Rainbow 6 has a Sunday carryover of $17,264 beginning in Race 4. Local handicapping ace Ron Nicoletti has his full-card analysis to assist.

RACE 1: 8 QUEEN KONG moves to the Bobby Dibona barn via the claim, and cuts back to a sprint distance after setting the pace and weakening to finish third going a mile and seventy yards on Tapeta. The barn, 38% with the turnback move, has Diego Herrera in the saddle. 3 AMANDE is turning back to five furlongs after returning from the layoff to finish second – as the favorite – going 5 1/2 furlongs on Tapeta last out. Happy Alter has Miguel Vazquez hoping to carve out a key stalking trip off the speed. 6 MY PERFECT LADY will race with the blinkers off after making a middle move and finishing third behind Amande last out. Carlos David, 33% with the blinkers off move, has Samy Camacho up. SELECTIONS: 8-3-6

RACE 2: 5 MODERN BEAUTY is cutting back to five furlongs after opening and surrendering a two length lead when drifting in the stretch and finishing second going 5 1/2 furlongs on the all weather surface. Victor Barboza Jr has Edgar Perez on the beaten favorite last out. 2 GOTTA BE MADISON is a speedy daughter of Midshipman who will be running and gunning as soon as they spring the gate latch. The problem has been holding that advantage to the wire. Samy Camacho rides. 4 SCENT OF GARLIC, a half to multiple stakes-placed Gabaldon, can end up sitting in the garden spot behind what looks like a strong early pace. Tarek Moubarak has Jose Morelos named to ride. SELECTIONS: 5-2-4

RACE 3: 2 STELLA BIONDA moves to the Jose Castro barn via the claim after becoming the only three time winner in the field when she drew clear to wallop $17,500 claimers by more than six lengths. Leonel Reyes goes for two in a row. 5 NEW LIFE, in for the $25,000 tag in this starter optional claimer, makes her first start since finishing a distant second in a $35,000 optional claimer going 8 1/2 furlongs on Tapeta on April 2. Victor Barboza Jr, 14% with the layoff, has Samy Camacho atop the daughter of Authentic. 8 TURKISH FLAME, who does her best running in the latter stages of the race, steps up looking to grab a share of the tri or super. SELECTIONS: 2-5-8

RACE 4: 4 HAYDEN REMEMBERED is stretching out to a mile after talking the overland route when rallying wide to finish second going seven furlongs. His improved form as of late earns the tepid choice to exit the maiden ranks. 5 CHEMICAL ROMANCE is trying the main track for the first time at a one turn mile with the tactical speed needed to steal this race from on or with the pace. Jose Castro has Jose Morelos overseeing the surface switch. 1 LOST MONEY will be outfitted with blinkers hoping to the addition of the shades improves his early speed, which the gelding hasn’t shown yet. SELECTIONS: 4-5-1

RACE 5: 8 SWEET AGENDA is cutting back to 5 1/2 furlongs after finishing a willing second vs this level of competition going three-quarters of a mile. Ramon Minguet keeps it light with apprentice Pedro Pena in the saddle. 3 THE BEASTER BUNNY is wheeling back after getting squeezed at the quarter pole when finishing third – a head behind the top choice last out. A clean trip can see her reverse the previous outcome. 9 ZANY LADY is going back to the main track after failing to mount a rally vs a notch tougher sprinting on Tapeta. Kathleen O’Connell, who also trains The Beaster Bunny, has Diego Herrera named to ride, SELECTIONS: 8-3-9

RACE 6: 4 THE COROMOTO is stretching out to 5 1/2 furlongs after responding to the dropdown to this level with a second-place finish – as the favorite – going five furlongs on Tapeta. Victor Barboza Jr has Leonel Reyes in the saddle. 6 WINNING DEFENSE is expected to show more after chasing the pace and finishing an even fourth behind the top choice in her career debut. Dave Fawkes, 21% with maidens making their second appearance, has Edwin Gonzalez managing the rematch. 7 IGNIS COR, another from Victor Barboza Jr, moves to his barn via the claim and wears blinkers after the solid fifth-place finish sprinting on the grass. The barn, 33% with new claims, has Diego Herrera atop this half of the uncoupled entry. SELECTIONS: 4-6-7

RACE 7: 8 GIANT TEDDY, popular in the claiming box, moves to the Fernado Abreu barn and cuts back to five furlongs after drawing clear to defeat only two rivals going 5 1/2 furlongs on the all-weather track. The new connections keep the status quo with Diego Herrera atop the consistent son of Giant Gizmo. 5 RAYDAR CONTROL will try to make it three in a row after following his $20,000 starter optional claiming victory with a state-bred allowance score last out. The gelding, a perfect 2 for 2 at the distance on Tapeta, has Edwin Gonzalez in the saddle as Diego moves to the top choice. 2 WALKING IN MEMPHIS, one of two in the field for Laura Cazares, moves to her barn via the claim and cuts back to a sprint on Tapeta, after showing speed going long on the turf. Jose Morelos should sit a key stalking trip just off the speed. SELECTIONS: 8-5-2

RACE 8: 4 FROSTY BELLE is stretching out to seven furlongs after finishing in a five-wide third behind much the best winner Flowko going 6 1/2 furlongs last out. She’s worth a flyer at a price, 6 DON’T DO IT LUCY is stepping up to face winners in the first race since she defeated a pair of next-out winners in her $50,000 maiden optional claiming debut during the Championship Meet. Tab the tote action on the daughter of Girvin before you plunk your money down. 5 GIRVIN STAR, who finish a neck in front of Frosty Belle last out, stretches out with jockey Yolber Torres in the saddle, who now competes without the apprentice allowance and carries 125 pounds. SELECTIONS: 4-6-5

RACE 9: 1 RISK drops to the $12,500 level and races without blinkers after chasing the pace and fading vs $35,000 maidens going 8 1/2 furlongs on Tapeta. Carlos David, 33% with the blinkers off angle, has Diego Herrera named to ride. 7 MY FOOLISH NOTION has been knocking on the door in five consecutive races at this level and trainer Herbie Miller names apprentice Luis Fuenmayor to ride, hoping the break in the weights improves the current string of second and third-place finishes. 4 CAPT’N PIKE returns from the layoff hoping to parlay his late closing kick into a share of the exotic wages. Ten-pound apprentice Wladimir Rengifo rides. SELECTIONS: 1-7-4
