An exciting weekend awaits us in Germany. The biggest Thoroughbred track in Germany, Baden-Baden, has the final weekend of the "The Big Week“ on the schedule. Meanwhile, the biggest harness track in Germany, Berlin-Mariendorf, runs the German Trotting Derby 2021. On Sunday, all eyes are on the Group 1 Grand Prix of Baden over 1-1/2 miles with a post time of 10:15 am ET (Race 8), Additionally, Race 5 features the best horses over 1 mile in the Group 2 Kronimus-Oettingen Rennen. The Sunday headline races also include the final stage of the 129th German Trotting Derby 2021 at Berlin-Mariendorf. The best trotters of Germany meet in Race 9 (post time 11:45 am ET). Berlin-Mariendorf // Race 9 // German Trotting Derby
All eyes on me, #3 Usain Lobell, the dominator! Can anyone beat this horse? As a 3-year-old, the horse won more than easily in Denmark against previous serial winners from the Gocciadoro Stables; in France, he had an intense fight with another serial winner, but got out of trot and was disqualified; and now in Germany, the horse does not look back. He won all qualification heats without any doubt and anything higher than odds of 6/5 would be surprising. #6 Rob the Bank was previously considered the hottest horse to win the Derby, but the qualification heat in which he got rolled over from the outside by Usain Lobell brought everyone back to reality.
