An exciting weekend awaits us in Germany. The biggest Thoroughbred track in Germany, Baden-Baden, has the final weekend of the "The Big Week“ on the schedule. Meanwhile, the biggest harness track in Germany, Berlin-Mariendorf, runs the Germany Trotting Derby 2021. On Sunday, all eyes are on the Group 1 Grand Prix of Baden over 1-1/2 miles with a post time of 10:15 am ET (Race 8), Additionally, Race 5 features the best horses over 1 mile in the Group 2 Kronimus-Oettingen Rennen. The Sunday headline races also include the final stage of the 129th German Trotting Derby 2021 at Berlin-Mariendorf. The best trotters of Germany meet in Race 9 (post time 11:45 am ET). Saturday Analysis
Berlin-Mariendorf // Race 12 // German Ladies Trotting Derby
Traditionally, the Derby for the ladies is run on a Saturday and this race has only one favorite, #1 All in Love. The daughter of the Prix d´Amerique winner Readly Express has improved massively over the winter racing season and seems unstoppable here. In the qualification heat, the bettors received only 10 back if they wagered 10 … and everybody expects the same for the final. We think the only horse who has a chance to upset is #3 Lumumba. She stormed to her win in the other qualifier in a fast time. If she can repeat this time, it will be a very close finish for those two ladies. In the mix could be the third qualification heat-winner #2 Xylene Diamant. She is rated below the others, but if one of the favorites fail, she could be in the race. It would be a huge upset if someone from the rest of the field could win.
