Xpressbet’s popular and profitable Fun in the Sun tournament returns Saturday for another exciting summer run.
Fun in the Sun is a weekly online handicapping competition open to Xpressbet account holders that begins Saturday, July 23, and is offered six consecutive Saturdays through August 27. The final table is slated for Saturday, September 3, during closing weekend at Saratoga.
Each Saturday’s contest features the last 5 races at Saratoga and the first 5 races at Del Mar, and players are tasked to make 10 wins bets of $10 each into their account. A $25 entry fee joins the $100 live bankroll to participate with 100% of all fees returned in the prize pools. Only the top 5 finishers in each of the 6 weekly contests advances to the final table, making it a select group of finalists.
It’s the third year for the final table format. Previous top prizes have averaged more than $14,000 for first place at the final table with a cool $10,000 added to the purse from Xpressbet and 1/ST. Nearly $50,000 in prize money was given out in the 2021 Fun in the Sun contest with no money kept by the ‘house.’ Veteran Xpressbet contest player Wayne Tam is the defending champion.
Besides Final Table seats to the top five finishers, weekly prizes include 70% of the gross weekly registration fees (30% goes toward the Final Table pot). The top earner each week will collect 60% of the kitty, with 25% to second and 15% to third (plus seats at the Final Table). Fourth and fifth-best weekly finishers will earn Final Table seats.
