Al Cimaglia: The Meadows-Force Out Friday Pick 5 Analysis

This is "Force Out Friday" at The Meadows and typical Jackpot pools will be emptied. The Pick 5, which begins in Race 4, has a carryover of $14,223. The Super Hi-5, which rolls in Race 13, has a carryover of $22,949. Both the Pick 5 and the Super Hi-5, which are typically Jackpot like wagers will be paid out. My focus will be on the 0.20 Pick 5 sequence.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 4

3-Solarctic (2-1)-This Burke pupil can compete at the claiming handicap level. Wrenn will need to squeeze a bit more out of this beaten odds-on chalk. Should be there at the wire but might be over bet.
5-Golden Gesture (6-1)-Come off an efficient win and now Myers takes the lines in the 1st start for the Kozar barn. Gets a prime post draw and should be able to get a good early seat. Wasn't Merriman's choice (4) but should be in play down the lane at a solid price.
8-Born Free De Vie (7-1)-Has been claimed in 3 of the last 4 and has won 4 straight. Hasn't started this far outside but has the gate speed to get the jump on this group. Won't keep winning forever but right now is razor sharp. The post makes the price and it's best to respect.

Race 5

1-Jacks On The Beach (8-1)-Can't completely trust the program choice, and so this looks like a good back-up at the morning line price. Had an even effort in the 1st try since 9-8. Being 0-20 at Mea is cause for pause but should race near the top and might trip out.
5-Best Shadow (6/5)-Shadow Play freshman was staked in Canada and is 0-12. No excuses allowed versus this crew, it should be picture time.

Race 6

1-Windsong Leo (7/2)-Will toss last versus better and did break in the stretch. This is a level that has brought out the best in the past. Looking for a big try from this Burke trainee.
3-Sandbetweenmytoes (5/2)-There was a time when this 5-year-old would gobble up this group, but those days are in the past. Now, this is a level where a picture can happen. Will look for a winning effort and hope the Simpson trainee isn't over bet.

Race 7

1-Aint She Perfect (5/2)-Mohawk shipper raced well in his RcR debut on 11-4. Not sure if starting on the rail will help this camera-shy mare. But should be tough to beat if steps-up in her 2nd local try.
5-Imarealrockinlady (3-1)-This will be the 4th start off the bench and its last race in Nfld ended with a break in stride. This is a soft spot if 100%, and is Palone's choice over the 1/9.

Race 8

5-Hashtagmadeyalook (3-1)-Lands in a nice spot in the 3rd race since 5-13. Made a needed start on 11-2 and finished the mile with a .57 back half. Gets some post relief and will look for a more aggressive steer.
6-Easter Lilly (5-1)-Lilly is back in town after a decent effort at Nfld from post 7. Fits but will need a good steer from Myers. If the pilot does his part and finds live cover, backers could be rewarded with a nice return.
